Keeping Your Plan
Back in November, it was ruled that the insured could keep their current health plans for a little while longer if state commissioners approved it. In March, the Obama Administration announced a two-year extension on this policy, allowing people to renew non-qualified health plans through 2017. This only applies to existing coverage. The commissioner in New Jersey did permit carriers to decide whether to let insureds keep their plans. At that time, ONLY UnitedHealthcare/Oxford allowed the “keeping your plan.” Previously, the commissioner in New York did not allow the “keeping your plan.” Therefore, the only policies that will be allowed to renew may be with UnitedHealthcare/Oxford.
